The Tata Nano is a rear-engined, four-passenger city car built by Tata motors, aimed primarily at the Indian market. It was first presented at the 9th annual Auto Expo on 10 January 2008, at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, India. Tata has sought to produce the least expensive production car in the world - aiming for a starting price of Rs.100,000 (approximately US$2,000). On February 26, 2009, Tata Motors announced that the commercial launch of Tata Nano will be on March 23, 2009. The prefix nano- derives from the Greek root nanos, meaning dwarf. Nano also means small in Gujarati, the native language of the Tata family, founders of the Tata Group. There are various trim levels available in India.

I cancelled the order for purchase of a Nano car by submitting necessary documents to their authorised dealer, Prerana Motors, on 13/02/2010. They have confirmed to me that the cancellation was sent to Tata Motors on 27/02/2010. Despite repeated emails to Tatanano, I have not received the refund of the full payment Rs. 140,200 paid at the time of placing the order. Neither Tatas nor Prerana respond to emails and Tatas phone no. (66373400/3417) is never answered.

Very very poor mileage of just 10.5 Km per litre. I had purchased a Tata Nano L X Sunshine Yellow on 9th November 2009 and to my utter dismay found that the car gave me a mileage of just 10.5 Kms per litre in Chennai traffic. The car has covered around 3600 Kms in the last 8 months. I have carefully tested my car on six consecutive occasions and each time the mileage obtained was only around 10.5 Kms per litre. I have sent any number of mails to Tata Motors but they are just not willing to accept that there is problem with the engine of my car. Initially they attributed this poor mileage to bad driving and gave me a lot of driving tips but recently a team from the Plant came and tested the car and confirmed that the car gave a mileage of only 10.5 Kms per litre They also stated that the same car gave them a mileage of 23 Kms per litre on the Highway. This is obviously a very desperate and ridiculous statement. However, they blatantly refuse to put down in writing the results of the mileage tests they conducted with my car for from 19th to 21st May 2010. I was given a 30 minute presentation on 21st May 2010 by Mr. Gopala Krishnan, Senior Manager Service at Chennai during the course of which he has orally confirmed the following 1. My Nano gave them a mileage of 10.5 Kms per litre when tested by their testing team in the same route that I travel to Office and back in peak time city traffic. 2. My Nano gave them an improved mileage when the testing was done by their testing team at two other time schedules in lesser traffic. 3. My Nano gave them a mileage of 23 Kms per litre when tested by their testing team on the By Pass Road upto Tambaram (Highway) I had purchased this car only after seeing an article in the media in which ARAI had stated that the Nano was the most fuel efficient car in India which returned a mileage of 23.6 Kms per litre. Unfortunately my experience has been absolutely contrary to this claim.

I purchased a Naon LX car chassis MAT612251AYC12523,ENG 273MPF101CZYE09286, on 5th Junce. It caught fire on 6th June. Again on 13th June. I observed that this car is totally unsafe and it is worth to rename it as an explosive device. The usage of the car should be totally banned in India. India is progressing. Nano car will ruin the country by creating havoc. The car has a chance of exploding near the petrol tank, gas godown and near the airport. Tata Motors is serving the nation very nicely but the product Nano will degrade its reputation.

Tata nano is very popular in India in a short period. It is all because of it cost. It cost only around 1 lakh. I did not used yet but one of my friend is using the Nano near my home. It looks so cute and its some what comfortable to sit. In this small car four members can travel safely. And the technology used Nano was something different from other cars. The greatest advantage is the mileage of the car. It gives more than 15kms per litre. So its the car which is so economical. The middle class peoples also can use cars now. I have decided to book a Nano car by next month. It is a good try by the TATA company.

Nano is an autorickshaw with four wheels. Besides clogging the roads further in Bangalore, I dont think mine or anyone elses Nano has actually done any good. The car is super tacky in its exteriors and interiors. Exteriors is like an egg shell, one tap and it cracks! Interior has rubber beadings stripping out, plastics pealing out and dont even think of durability of the interiors if you plan to leave it out. Of course, with cheap cars come cheap (crappy) service. Any problems with the car, tata says "tata" :)

I made an online booking of the car, making an advanced payment of Rs. 14000. However, seeing that my delivery is due only in the year 2010, I cancelled my booking, expecting for a refund according to the agreement. My refund was supposed to be done a month after the cancellation. I made it in the month of July. Its been two months now, until date I am waiting for my money
