Barclays plc is a major global financial services provider operating in Europe, North America, the Middle East, Latin America, Australia, Asia and Africa. Credit card is part of a system of payments named after the small plastic card issued to users of the system. It is a card entitling its holder to buy goods and services based on the holders promise to pay for these goods and services. The issuer of the card grants a line of credit to the consumer (or the user) from which the user can borrow money for payment to a merchant or as a cash advance to the user. Credit cards provided by Barclays Bank are Barclaycard Gold, Barclays Premier League Barcklaycard, Times Card from Barclaycard and TimesofMoney and Yatra Barclaycard Platinum etc.

I had called customer care at Barclay Card (no. 433xxxxxxxxxx120) in the 1st week of February for cancellation of my credit card. Reason given for cancellation given by me was that I am not using the credit card (which can be verified) for so many months and therefore paying of annual fees was not feasible for me. I was informed by the customer care executing that the cancellation process will be initiated by Standard Chartered Bank since my account has been transferred to them and at the same time I was informed that there will be no annual fees charged to me. Now I have received statement asking me to pay the annual fees. I called customer care again and I was informed that he cannot do anything regarding this. I sent mails to them but they are saying that as per the recorded telephonic conversation, I have agreed to pay the annual fees. I have asked them to provide me with the audio tape of the conversation but not getting any reply regarding this. All they say is that if I don’t pay, additional charges will be there and I will have to pay them. I request Barclay Bank to reverse the annual fees charged by them and also not charge me any additional charges and request them to cancel my card with immediate effect.

In May 2009, I have been to UK. There I lost this credit card (4339 4878 XXXX XXXX) and I filed a complaint for the same but they did not block my card. When I came back, I did not receive any statement for 4-5 months and suddenly they sent me statement for more than Rs32000. I called them several times to resolve this issue but nobody listened to me. In Dec 2009, I received a call from Rohit Verma from Barclays and he said I have to settle this down. Then I made my mind and ready to do settlement by paying Rs.7200/- and they accepted my cheque in Jan 2010 and gave me settlement letter with confirmation code mumbcgold39382. But still I am receiving lots of calls from them almost every alternate week and everybody said there is no settlement shown in my record. In fact yesterday (Feb 28, 2011) I got a call from Nehru Place Barclays office and he asked me to come in their office with that letter. I told him that since I have the proof that I have done settlement then why not you come to my home to see that letter but he did not agree. I should stop getting calls since my account is closed.

I sent many mails, but bank is not ready to accept their fault and mis-commitment done by them with me. They just sent me Cheque of Rs. 600 plus for credit balance. I am Barclays Credit Card Holder (No. 4339 4844 xxxx xxxx- Priority Customer). Recently I received letter from Bank informing me that Credit Card is suspended due to internal policies. I wish to inform you that I have been earlier debited Rs. 5000.00 + Service tax for Priority Membership. At that time Customer Care told me that in case my card was cancelled by Barclays, I will get it refunded. However when I called Customer Care, they were first reluctant to take my complaint and provided me incorrect Numbers. When I called to those numbers, operators told me that they are not tied up with Barclays at all. Finally customer care taken complaint and after 10 days they inform me that I will not get any refund. I also wish to inform you that My credit card was debited for premium for Met Life Insurance premium for one year. At the time of enrollment of policy, Barclays Customer Care told me that I have to just pay for 1 Premium and rest Barclays will take care as I am priority Customer. I also not able to redeem my reward points as CC told me that I will have minimum 1250 points. Since it was suspended by Barclays Bank, request you to help me in below things: 1. Send me Credit Balance in My Credit Card Account + Rs. 5000.00 charged for priority membership. 2. Guide me about my existing Metlife Policy through your bank and refund me my premium paid and explain why mis-commitment was made by CC. 3. Exact Reason of Suspension of My Credit Card. For reference Bank can also refer my Voice conversion with customer care at time of purchasing policy and priority membership and help me on above things.

Barclays Bank credit card department is doing fraud with all their customers. I have done settlement with them in Jan 2010 and have the reference no -mum bcgold 39382. But still they are saying there is no settlemnt you have done as such and asking me money again and again. Every alternate week their agent call me and asked me to make payment. Please help.

I was holding a Barclays Bank credit card. I had made the payment of Rs. 6000 towards the card. After that I again deposited Rs1500 (I have all receipts) and they said that my account is now closed. I also received a settlement letter from the bank (no mum/ bcgold/66185). Now I have again received a statement dated 24th Dec 2010 in which the previous balance Rs.40411 is mentioned for my account. I did all the payment but still they demand cash and almost daily they call on my cell and abuse me. I want them to close my card as per settlement letter without demanding any further amount

On 17th July call from a person called as Ms. Charulatha from Barclays Bank. Phone number 42910037, informing of a settlement amount of Rs.14,000.00 which I expressed my inability to pay more than what has been agreed. On 26th September 2009, I had a conference call with one Mr Balaji of Barclays Bank who linked me to your Mr. Nikhil Joseph and after explaining the circumstances and my concerns, it was agreed to reconcile for a settlement amount of Rs.5,000.00 of which Rs.500.00 to be paid immediately and balance Rs.4,500.00 on receipt of the settlement letter from Barclays which was promised 15 days thereafter. Accordingly as agreed and promised, I paid Rs.500.00 vide Receipt No. C 984707 on 26.09.09.. Subsequently have been following it up with Mr Balaji and the last I spoke to him was 1st December 2009. Then, on 29th December 2009 spoke to Ancy Joseph and explained the above to her. She then persuaded me and after persistent follow up and negotiations, she asked me to pay Rs.450.00 against settlement of Rs.4,500.00 and balance Rs.4,000.00 on production of settlement letter which she promised to talk to Mr Nikhil Joseph and organise for this as by then I was told that Mr Balaji was no longer with Barclays. Self respected this and paid Rs.450.00 vide receipt no.C 1138803. Then one Mr Siva came on line on 29th January 2010 claiming that Ancy Joseph has left Barclays and he promised to give a NOC (No objection Certificate) once I pay Rs.550 in next 3 days i.e on 2nd February 2010. He further promised that he would get a waiver for the entire settlement amount of Rs.4,050.00 and also went on to add that there would be no reminder calls, mails, besides statement will come thereafter i.e., from 2nd February 2010. Till date none of the above promises has been honored which poorly reflects on the banks inefficiency and their customer service pathetic standards. I now hope Barclays bank would honor all the above promises and come out with a NOC immediately. I have been subjected to lot of harassment, repeated calls at odd hours and doles of promises not being honored by the Bank.
