I wanted to take a home loan from State Bank of India. When I approached them, they asked me to submit the essential documents and advised that the interest rate is low when compared to other banks. After I submitted the documents they had asked for, they advised that more documents are needed to process the home loan. So, just submitting the documents took nearly a week. I was made to wait for hours and I was baffled by the poor customer service. Only due to its low interest I applied for a loan but getting the loan sanctioned took forever and I was left frustrated. So, I withdrew my papers and applied home loan in another bank. I had no hassles there even though the interest rate was little higher than the State Bank of India.

The Customer service is very bad. The attitude of the bank managers in two of the branches I have come across, is very frustrating. They treat customers like their servants and make use of the lack of awareness of the laws and rules of the bank. It is very irritating to say that i had to wait one full day in the bank to open an SB account at Gill nagar branch, with no mistakes from my side. The time taken by the bank to provide a cheque book is 3 days, but i havent received my cheque book yet even after a week. The manager was impolite on enquiring about this matter and said he cannot look into this matter for my urgency.The bank also needs to take measures on crowd management, and the employees are lathargic.
