Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is the benefit of filing a complaint with Consumerdaddy?

Consumerdaddy is a venue for public to share their consumer complaints, criticisms, praises, reviews and interests about products and companies. Retail data confirms that one unsatisfied customer can cost a company at least eighty (80) other customers! However, a consumer is only powerful as long as he/she is informed. So if you have been duped, cheated or in any way compromised by a company, filing a complaint with Consumerdaddy is the best way to inform other consumers about your experience. Since no company wants other consumers to hear bad things about them, you probably have an 80 times better chance of getting the company to listen to your complaint through Consumerdaddy than on your own.

  2. Will Consumerdaddy recommend a product to buy?

No. Consumerdaddy does not recommend or discourage consumers from using products. We gather data on the ratings of each product based on consumer reviews and provide the consumer with an overall score ranging from 0 to 10 for each product. We also increment the overall score for all resolved complaints and decrement the overall score for all unresolved complaints. Furthermore, we provide the consumer a comprehensive report about the product including opinions from our customers, complaint history of the product along with these numerical ratings. Summarily, a consumer may use our overall score to make an informed decision on which product to buy, but we refrain from making recommendations for any product.

  3. What does the overall score in a Consumerdaddy report represent?

Consumerdaddy overall scores range between 0 and 10, 0 being the lowest, 5 being average and 10 being the highest. Consumerdaddy gives a default score of 5.0000 for all new products added to our database. Each time the product receives praise, the overall score is incremented. Each time the product receives a criticism, the overall score is decremented. Each time a consumer tells us about a complaint, we help the consumer get a solution for the complaint from the company. If the company does not satisfactorily close the complaint, we mark the complaint as unresolved and decrement the overall score of the product. In short, the overall score of the product represents the consumer’s perception of the product, 0 being the lowest, 5 being average and 10 being the highest.

  4. Does Consumerdaddy provide reports on products or on companies?

Both. Primarily all Consumerdaddy reports are about products. However, each product belongs to a company. A company report is therefore provided by Consumerdaddy by combining the report of all the company’s products.

  5. How can we trust Consumerdaddy reports?

Consumerdaddy operates on three fundamental principles that are the tenets of our existence.

    1. Our stakeholders DO NOT possess, undertake or hold direct or indirect interests in any other company for which Consumerdaddy provides reports for.
    2. As an organization, Consumerdaddy DOES NOT align, recommend, associate or endorse any product or company.
    3. As an organization, Consumerdaddy DOES NOT manipulate the consumer reports in any manner to benefit or disadvantage any company.
Our mission is to ‘Promote consumerism by providing 100% unbiased consumer reports to consumers regarding consumer complaints, criticisms, praises, reviews and public interest in general about the products and companies.’

  6. I posted a complaint against a product. However, the complaint is not visible under the product or the company. Why?

Your complaint may not be visible to you due to one of the following reasons:

    1. Consumerdaddy is currently investigating your complaint and has not reached a verdict on the outcome of your complaint. Some complaints are quickly solved due to the prompt communication of the consumer and the company. Some complaints may take up to 3 months to solve.
    2. Consumerdaddy evaluated the complaint and found that it is in violation of the terms and conditions of our complaint system. Hence Consumerdaddy has invalidated the complaint. If you believe your complaint has been invalidated, you may log in to your account, go to the complaint history section and check the reason why we invalidated your complaint.
    3. You may also withdraw your complaint at any time. If you do not see your complaint in the system it may be because you have withdrawn the complaint.

  7. What is the difference between a withdrawn complaint and a resolved complaint?

A resolved complaint is a complaint where the consumer and the company have reached a mutually acceptable solution. This complaint is visible to all other consumers at the Consumerdaddy site. A withdrawn complaint is a complaint that the consumer has withdrawn, for any reason at any stage. Once withdrawn the consumer will not be able to reopen the complaint again. Withdrawn complaints are not visible to other consumers at the Consumerdaddy site.

  8. What is the difference between an unresolved complaint and a resolved complaint?

In our experience, majority of consumer complaints are a result of improper communication between consumers and companies. When the miscommunication is solved, the consumer complaint gets closed. A resolved complaint is one that the company has closed to the satisfaction of the consumer. It shows the openness of the company to retain the patronage of their customers and is an extremely positive trait. An unresolved complaint is a complaint that the company has not closed to the satisfaction of the consumer. Unresolved complaints are indicative of the company’s lack of willingness to address problems in their products or policies that hinder consumer satisfaction. The number of unresolved complaints a product or company has is a key performance indicator, and a large number of unresolved complaints is a consumers red signal to stop buying the product and/or stop doing business with the company.

  9. Does Consumerdaddy file lawsuits or consumer petitions against companies on behalf of the consumer in courts or consumer forums under any circumstance?

No. Consumerdaddy however helps consumers with all the information and assistance they need should they want to proceed legally against the company. Consumerdaddy will also recommend to consumers the most eminent lawyers in the field of consumer protection.

  10. Does Consumerdaddy report on a product or a company include any actions the government or a court of law may have taken regarding a product or a company?

No. Consumerdaddy report contains only consumer reviews, consumer complaints and a numerical score for the traits that yield an overall score.

  11. We heard that Consumerdaddy relies on advertising revenue from companies to run its website. If revenue comes from companies how can Consumerdaddy be fair to the consumer?

This is a rightful concern. Consumerdaddy relies on companies for revenue to sustain the cost of our operations since we are not in any way funded either by the government or any other NGOs. However, the success of Consumerdaddy is not our revenue, but the trust that consumers place on our consumer reports. Moreover, our mission is to promote consumerism where the power of the market place is in the hands of consumers. Hence any business that approaches Consumerdaddy with the direct or indirect intention of “providing us revenue for improving their reports” will immediately be shown the door! Summarily, consumers can be assured that Consumerdaddy reports are 100% unbiased and cannot be influenced by any company under any circumstance.

  12. How can Consumerdaddy’s report on a large company be unbiased? What if the company gives Consumerdaddy a bribe to give a good report?

Any company which tries to bribe Consumerdaddy to improve its report will immediately receive negative points for their ethics. Consumerdaddy will NOT take money or any direct or indirect incentives from any company to improve their reports UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Moreover, should the company make a bribery attempt, offer of any illicit incentive, or a threat, Consumerdaddy will also post this information on the company’s report so that all consumers can read about the incident

No. Consumerdaddy is a venue for consumers to post their honest opinion and complaints about products. Consumerdaddy encourages information to and from consumers. We are absolutely certain that we can and will prevail in any court of justice for promoting a social cause such as consumerism. Any company that wants to sue us for publishing a report about them is welcome to do so, as it will publicize the fact that the company would rather use its resources on petty lawsuits to cover up their problems than fix the problems with its products and satisfy the consumers!

  14. I filed a complaint with Consumerdaddy. The company in the complaint is unwilling to solve my complaint although it is a genuine problem with their product. Why can’t Consumerdaddy force the company to solve the complaint?

Occasionally Consumerdaddy finds little or no cooperation from the company in solving a complaint. Since Consumerdaddy is a private agency with no statutory or regulatory powers, Consumerdaddy cannot force a company to respond favorably to a complaint, nor can Consumerdaddy issue any legally binding outcomes on a complaint. The only course of action Consumerdaddy can take, in the event that a company does not respond favorably to a genuine complaint, is to make sure that the complaint is made part of the consumer report of the product and the company. This will ensure that other consumers in the market place are aware of the disinclination of the company to favorably close consumer complaints. Additionally, Consumerdaddy will also reduce the overall score in the report of the product if the complaint remains unresolved.
