What you heard is only partially right. Consumerdaddy does rely primarily on advertising revenue to run its website. However, these are not advertisements from companies. We run only third party advertisements on our website.

Third party advertisements work in three steps: (1) Consumerdaddy provides space on its website for advertisements to be placed (2) Consumerdaddy contracts third party ad content providers (like Google) to place advertisements in these spaces and (3) Third party advertisers decide what advertisements are to be placed in these spaces and for how long.

In short, we just give space for advertisements but we never solicit advertisements from anyone under any circumstance. So if you see the advertisement of company XYZ on our site, we guarantee you that we have made no direct or indirect contact with XYZ company. So there is no chance of any conflict of interest that will make Consumerdaddy unfair to consumers.

Section III: Questions about Consumer Report

22. What is a consumer report?

A consumer report shows you how satisfied consumers are with a company or a product. Consumerdaddy provides consumer reports for 40,000 companies and 2,00,000 products.

23. What is CSL?

The Consumer Satisfaction Level, CSL quantifies the consumer confidence of a product or company on a scale of 0 to 10. 0 is the lowest, 5 is average and 10 is the highest CSL. Each new product added to our database gets a CSL of 5.

When a consumer is satisfied with a product and files a praise, the CSL of the product will increase marginally from 5 to 10. When a consumer is dissatisfied with a product and files a criticism, the CSL of the product will decrease marginally from 5 to 0.

When a consumer files a complaint and the complaint remains unresolved, the CSL of the product reduces substantially by 10%. As an example, if a new product added to our database has 1 unresolved complaint, its CSL reduces from 5 to 4.5. If this product has 100 unresolved complaints, its CSL reduces from 5 to 0.

Summarily, CSL is an indicator of the satisfaction levels of consumers with a product.
